I love walking our Chesapeake, Joe, as part of my daily exercise routine. It’s fun getting outside, knowing Joe enjoys it as much as I do. But a brisk walk after he’s been fast asleep proves a bit challenging for our dog.
Hang in There! Developing Patience
If you’re like me, you’re still not jumping up and down waiting to be picked for a trial so you can display a longsuffering nature. Am I right?
Today we’ll get a slightly different take on this subject – straight from God’s Word.
I don’t want you to miss the longsuffering nature of our amazing God. Ready? Let’s dive in!
Hang in There! Developing Patience (Part 1)
Do you enjoy trials? Me neither. When they last for a long time, it’s even harder to choose the right attitude day after day. But the tough times allow us to develop a characteristic we can’t build under easy circumstances: longsuffering (patience).
Bigger than Me
Fever, cough and congestion – the doctor said it was the respiratory flu. Not exactly how I wanted the year to begin. I tried to look on the positive side; I had been healthy through the holidays. But as the days passed and I didn’t feel any better, discouragement set in and my thoughts became negative. Ever been there?
How’s Your Prayer-Life?
Exercise – check. Feed pets – check. Finish Bible study – check. Put dinner in the crockpot – check. Sometimes my days seem like a list of activities I live to check off. Yours too? It’s when I stop long enough to listen to that still, small voice that I remember life is so much more:
No Longer Thirsty
The sun was probably high in the sky when she stepped into the unbearable heat and headed to the well. The Samaritan woman was sure to be the only one getting water at this hour. That was the idea.
Something Far Better
He seemed tentative at first. His big, amber eyes glanced from me to the ground and back again. This wasn’t our usual routine. Our Chesapeake Bay retriever, Joe, was used to exiting his area from one location – and this wasn’t the right place. Could he trust me? Would everything be okay if he came out of his territory another way?
I Found God in a Basement
Once upon a time ago, in the city of Chicago, there lived a Greek family. There was a mom, a dad, and five children. I was the oldest girl. We grew up to be a religious family. Our parents didn’t go with us to church, but they required that we attend.
It’s not my fruit
Are you a project person? Projects can be intimidating; especially ones that take five years. If I had known at the onset of writing, Outrageously Fruitful, a fruit of the Spirit Bible study, it wouldn’t be complete for 1825 days, I highly doubt I would have begun.
Don’t Let Discouragement Get the Best of You
Feelings can get me in trouble. On those days when I wake up more tired than when I went to bed, I really don’t feel like starting the day. And my mood is in need of a serious boost.
