The Bible speaks of two types of death

Physical Death

“And as it is appointed unto men one to die, but after this the judgment:”Hebrews 9:27

Spiritual Death

“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”Revelation 20:14-15

Do you realize if you do not receive God’s gift of eternal life you will spend eternity separated from God?

Jesus is God

yet He was willing to sacrifice Himself for our sins

“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”Philippians 2:6-8

Because Jesus never sinned, He was the only one who could pay our sin debt.

He loved us so much he took the sins of the entire human race upon Himself. What an amazing love!

But Jesus didn’t stay on the cross. He was buried and rose again three days later.

Let’s personalize it:

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”2 Corinthians 5:21

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”1 Corinthians 15:3-5

Jesus died in your place to pay the price (wage) for your sin. He was buried and rose again on the third day.

The Gift

Jesus died on the cross to pay your sin debt so you can spend eternity with Him in heaven.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 6:23

How do I receive God’s gift of eternal life?

(By acknowledging there is no “good work” you can do to gain eternal life.)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”Ephesians 2:8-9

By putting your faith in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life. Believing on Jesus Christ is transferring your trust from self-effort and good works to trusting Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”Romans 10:10
