This month we’ve been talking about temperance, or self-control. Today we’ll take a practical look at something we do every day – eat.
Slow Down and Ask for Direction
When I slow down enough to focus on the One who made the day and created me, I’m reminded that He stands ready and willing to give me everything I need to finish each task. And He may want to rearrange my schedule in the process to help me see what’s really important.
The Simple Truth About Self-Control (Part 2)
All those years ago, every person decided what was right and did it without considering God. We’re seeing a similar trend in 2017. Sin has a grip on those who don’t know Jesus Christ as their Savior.
The Simple Truth About Self-Control
I’ve never been an early riser. A comfortable bed and cozy covers give me every excuse to stay put. But the house doesn’t get cleaned, and articles don’t write themselves if I don’t exercise some self-control.
Priceless (Part 2)
I want these traits to be evident in my life. I’m sure you do too! Today we’ll see the meekness Jesus displayed throughout His lifetime. Our attention will be drawn to some amazing promises associated with meekness. And because of the work of the Holy Spirit within us, we’ll be reminded that we, too, can exhibit this desirable fruit.
Priceless (Part 1)
Would others define you as meek? It’s not a word we use every day, and oftentimes we confuse meekness with weakness. Truth is we’d be wise to allow the Holy Spirit to develop this trait in our lives. The dictionary defines the term meek as gentle, tender; free from pride.
Goodness Comes from Christ Alone
As Christians, we can easily err one of two ways—we either develop a Pharisaical attitude where we begin to feel as if we have it all together and have “arrived” in our faith, so to speak. Or, we live as if we’ve never been changed, as if our old nature still has power over us. In the first example, we focus on performance instead of Christ in us. In the second, we focus on our fight against sin instead of growing our relationship with Christ.
Actions Are Louder Than Words
If you’ve ever been treated poorly or unjustly accused, it can be tough to respond the right way. Our flesh wants to retaliate and defend our character. But that only leads to trouble. How would God want us to respond?
Hang in There! Developing Patience
If you’re like me, you’re still not jumping up and down waiting to be picked for a trial so you can display a longsuffering nature. Am I right?
Today we’ll get a slightly different take on this subject – straight from God’s Word.
I don’t want you to miss the longsuffering nature of our amazing God. Ready? Let’s dive in!
