Our attention will be drawn to some amazing promises associated with meekness. And because of the work of the Holy Spirit within us, we’ll be reminded that we, too, can exhibit this desirable fruit.

Would others define you as meek? It’s not a word we use every day, and oftentimes we confuse meekness with weakness. Truth is we’d be wise to allow the Holy Spirit to develop this trait in our lives. The dictionary defines the term meek as gentle, tender; free from pride.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? On average, it usually takes me an hour. Showering is a breeze, it’s wrestling with my hair that keeps the clock ticking. Those of you with fine hair know what I’m talking about. We applaud the invention of hairspray and look forward to those days of little to no humidity. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but you get the point.

He seemed tentative at first. His big, amber eyes glanced from me to the ground and back again. This wasn’t our usual routine. Our Chesapeake Bay retriever, Joe, was used to exiting his area from one location – and this wasn’t the right place. Could he trust me? Pride is a dangerous thing. Sometimes I don’t realize its hold on me until it’s too late. I remember being asked to speak for a women’s group a couple years ago. Lots of preparation and prayer went into it. I really wanted the Lord to use me to encourage these ladies.
